Coorong, autumn 2024 (#19 in series: fatally “necklaced”?)

 

 

As we approached the Goolwa Barrage, I noticed an unlucky cormorant.

Courtesy of a careless human, the pictured bird probably had a very short future.

If you do not already understand why it was probably in fatal trouble, zoom in/enlarge the image, and look closely at the cormorant’s head.

All over the world, discarded fishing line has caused many an awful, easily-preventable death.
