Deep South WA, Feb ‘25 (#27 in series: male western rosella)

Both photos feature the same individual.

They were taken within two minutes of each other.

Q: are rosellas cockatoos?

A: no.

Cockatoos are a subset of parrots; as a group, the “cockies” are the loudest, biggest and smartest, the least widely-distributed…and they have crests.

Cockatoos are parrots, but relatively few parrots are cockatoos.
