Uttterly fearless too! Meet Petroica longipes – New Zealand’s North Island robin.
For this bird, my beloved and I presented as no threat whatsoever.
This practical opportunist saw us simply as potential uncoverers/ disturbers of prey, lurking in the leaf litter beside Lake Rotopounamu in Tongariro National Park.
The rainforest-fringed Lake Rotopounamu will be subject of a more substantial post in April.
So will the volcanoes!
