…there were “artistic” performances of a more globally-familiar, less-refined kind.
I photographed the pictured busker through the car window, as we made our way through Yogyakarta’s relaxed and surprisingly uncrowded streets.
We were en route from the sultan’s palace to a batik centre. (which proved a tad underwhelming/touristic)
Our next destination was a semi-rural part of Yogyakarta’s outskirts, where a modest, semi-outdoor eatery served us a particularly delicious whole fish.
After lunch, as you will see in #30 of this series, we drove a few more kilometres further from downtown Yogyakarta, to visit Prambanan.
Chances are excellent that you have never heard of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Southeast Asia has many Hindu temple sites.
Only Angkor Wat is a bigger one than Prambanan.
