Spring in Hokkaido

Cherry Blossom time is all over in Tokyo, but in cooler Hokkaido Spring is still unfolding, not all trees are yet in leaf, and it is prime time for Cherry Blossoms.

Hokkaido is very beautiful.

Right now, it is unusually warm, after a cool winter – shirt and sandals weather, although many of the peaks (not a few of which are active volcanoes) are still snow capped.

We are only two days into our first visit to Hokkaido; expect more substantial posts about Japan’s northernmost major island later this year.
