According to the sun, it was not yet 11 am on 24 May 2024.
I took the photo in Kashgar’s “old city”, looking across to “new” Kashgar’s TV tower.
According to the national government – based in Beijing, more than 3,000 kilometres to the east – the time was 12. 57 pm.
Once a major hub of “the Silk Road”, Kashgar/ Kashi was already a significant city thousands of years before many of the world’s currently-significant cities were founded.
It is a very interesting city, still: and not just for what it once was,
If you are partial to hats, to Islamic architecture, and to sheep meat, chances are particularly excellent that you’d love Kashgar!
