Winter light, Flinders Ranges, 05/06/2023 (#11 in series: “Cloud Dance”, with musical bonus)

The featured image in the previous chapter and the three photos in this chapter were all taken in Wilpena Pound, within the space of less than three minutes.

Not very far above us, clouds danced.

For most of 05 June 2023 we were treated to constantly-shifting skies…and to their constantly-changing effects on the “face” of some very ancient terrain.

Briefly, Wipena Pound unexpectedly resembled Scottish highlands.

Musical bonus

As it happens, Collin Walcott’s “Cloud Dance” is a piece and performance that I have loved ever since it was brand new, nearly half a century ago.

It is the title piece of its sitarist and composer’s 1976 LP, with guitarist John Abercrombie, bassist Dave Holland and drummer Jack DeJohnette.
