Winterbark, fungi, in Perth’s inner suburbia

In marked contrast to most eastern Australian cities, Perth is enjoying a “proper” winter in 2018.

More than 150 mm fell here in July. As I type, heavy rain is falling, and it just might be snowing on Bluff Knoll, 400 ks southeast of here.

This post is a winter sequel to an earlier one.

December 2017’s Shedding skin (inner-suburban Eucalypts) location was the same – Railway Parade, West Leederville.

This one’s photos were all taken yesterday, July 31.

The fungi are currently spectacularly evident at the base of an old sugar gum.

The bark studies – entirely au naturel  – feature the very same lemon-scented gums whose bark looked so very different in summertime.
